Revertigo

Just sitting here reminds me that
I'm not afraid of them for a minute.
Words can hurt, can cut like a knife,
But courage and respect can sew up the perforated skin.

I'll stand my ground, I'll make it sound.
Though others may turn their backs on me,
They'll always be reminded of my memories.
They'll feel remorse for what they could've had,
And what they've lost over something so miniscule.

I hold this truth to be self-sufficient,
That I can attest to what others may call lies.
The witnesses that I have bared will be
The end of my civilization as I know it.
(In other words, the death of me.)

Picking sides should only be confined to physical sports,
Not to some outlandish situation that I got pulled into.
I'm trying to be unbiased and middle-based,
Even if some are trying to bring about the downfall of my species.

As a wise man once said:
"If we're going down, we all go down together."
Well we're going down, knowing fully well of our eminent doom.
And now our children must suffer the same things that we have suffered,
The same castes, the same blood shed, the same power shifts.
History will once again be doomed to repeat itself.
